Inline writing

Improve the passage you are already working on.

Turn rough notes into a clearer paragraph without moving to a separate document. Select a passage for a rewrite, or leave the selection empty to draft at the cursor.

01

Make a focused request

Ask for clearer wording or use the Shorter and Longer shortcuts. Keep the task close to the specific text that needs attention.

02

Choose helpful context

Use notes to retrieve accessible workspace material. Enable web search for outside sources or include a public page URL in your instruction.

03

Control the final insertion

Read and edit the suggestion before applying it. Applying is an explicit action, and one undo can restore the previous text.

FROM IDEA TO USEFUL CONTEXT

Put it into practice.

  1. Select or place the cursor

Highlight the passage to rewrite, or choose the place where new text should be inserted.

  2. Open Quick AI

Press Command J or Ctrl J and describe the change. Add note or web context when it helps.

  3. Review and apply

Check wording and facts, edit the suggestion, and apply only the text you want.

A FEW USEFUL DETAILS

Questions, answered.

Can I use this in both editor views?

Yes. Inline writing is available in Human and Markdown editing views.

What happens if I edit the note while a suggestion is generated?

Reopen the writing tool with a fresh selection against the updated note before applying a suggestion. This avoids applying it to an outdated passage.
