Links and backlinks

Let one useful note lead to the next.

A project brief should lead to its decisions, and a decision should lead to its evidence. Wikilinks connect those notes while backlinks reveal where an idea is already being used.

01

Link while you write

Type [[ to search titles and paths, then insert a note reference from the suggestions. Use a readable label when the sentence needs one.

02

See the incoming context

The Links panel shows notes that link to the current note. A reference can become a starting point for understanding a wider project.

03

Keep durable references

Stable note ID references follow a note across path and title changes. Agents can use the link tool to add the same kind of durable connection.

FROM IDEA TO USEFUL CONTEXT

Put it into practice.

  1. Write a useful source note

Give the decision, observation, or reference its own note and clear title.

  2. Link it in context

Insert a wikilink wherever another note depends on that information.

  3. Follow the connections

Use Links or Graph view to trace references and discover where a change may matter.

A FEW USEFUL DETAILS

Questions, answered.

Can I use titles instead of full paths?

Yes. Links can resolve by title, slug, or path. For a durable copied reference, use the stable note ID form documented in the guide.

Does a link give someone access to the target?

No. A note link does not grant access to a private, deleted, or different-workspace note.

A PLACE TO BUILD ON

Give your next thought a home.

Start with a note. Add structure, connect an agent, and keep the useful context together.
